Who We Are

The Learning Center of North Arkansas (formerly The Carroll County Learning Center) was incorporated in 1974 by a group of concerned individuals and business owners in Carroll County who knew the need for quality services for persons with disabilities was needed. After forming the non-profit, they began operation in the basement of the local Methodist Church. The Center finally received a deed of land on the Berryville Public School’s property, and a building was born. The building was paid for by donations and erected by volunteers throughout the project. The Learning Center was first led by a Board of Directors of those individuals who set up the 501 ©3 non-profit agency and operated with an Executive Director. The Center began with several children and adults and continued to grow in the community. What began with just a few students and two staff persons has now grown to over 160 employees and services to more than 400 individuals.

The Center also is owner of West View Apartments in Berryville for senior citizens and persons with disabilities and East View Apartments in Green Forest, a 26 unit multi-family housing complex.  More information about these programs can be obtained by phoning (870) 423-3000 or (870) 438-5619.

The Learning Center of North Arkansas provides a wide range of service options for individuals and their families including a transportation system which provides home pickup and delivery to the Center, medical appointments, recreation and community outings, therapy programs, a food service program which provides free and reduced lunches to each individual attending our programs and education services provided by certified, trained staff members.

The Learning Center of North Arkansas continues to grow in all areas, including a multi-million-dollar budget which is allowing the Center to meet its financial obligations. Yearly, our agency is audited and in compliance with all of the State of Arkansas licensing agencies.

The Learning Center is a private, non-profit organization serving individuals, birth to adults, with developmental disabilities in Carroll, Madison, Newton, Boone, and Marion counties.  The Board of Directors is a mix of community leaders and parents or family members of persons with disabilities.  These individuals serve without compensation yet provide leadership, dedication, and a passion for the success of the Learning Center and its mission.  The Learning Center of North Arkansas continually meets the stringent requirements of the licensing entities at the Department of Education, Division of Developmental Disabilities, and Child Care Licensing.
